BCA regularly receives concerns about community roadways being blocked off for play activity. The Association, VDOT, and Loudoun County do not condone street play and advise concerned residents to first approach the neighbors involved to directly resolve the concern. For unresolved concerns, we recommend contacting the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number (703-777-1021). Placement of personal "Children at Play" signs in roadways or common areas is also discouraged, as they have been shown to create a false sense of security. Please contact the Community Standards department
with any questions or concerns.Considerations when Celebrating with Fireworks -
All residents are encouraged to review the Loudoun County Fire Marshal Office’s (FMO) List of Approved Fireworks & Safety Tips
. According to the FMO, consumer fireworks such as sparklers and ground based fountains are legal to possess and use on private property. Consumer fireworks that rise into the air, explode, travel laterally on the ground, or emit projectiles are illegal to possess or use anywhere in Virginia. Possession and/or use of these materials is a Class 1 Misdemeanor. Please note the safety tips below to help ensure a safe and fun holiday!
- Only use fireworks outdoors.
- Obey all local laws regarding the use of fireworks.
- Never give fireworks to young children, and always wear safety glasses.
